Report: GroupOn Leads The Pack In Popularity... And Downtime

Groupon is one of the fastest social shopping platforms in the industry. Can too much success and rapid growth prove to be the downfall of this social shopping giant?

Groupon, a leader in social shopping and group buying operations, has reached a value of $3 billion in less than three years; their daily deals are distributed in over 29 countries and they’ve reached over $500 million in sales in 2010 alone. Recently, however, Groupon has fallen victim to their greatest foe…their own success.

According to WatchMouse — a web monitoring firm that monitored 11 social shopping websites between November 22nd and the 22nd of December — the Groupon website was down for over 26 hours during the holiday season.
