Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian Resigns From Board of Directors

The company will honor his wishes to fill his seat with a Black candidate

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian resigned from the platform’s board of directors today and urged the company to fill his seat with a Black candidate.

Ohanian revealed his decision in a series of tweets and said, “It is long overdue to do the right thing. I’m doing this for me, for my family and for my country. I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks, ‘What did you do?’”

He added that he will use any future gains from his holdings in Reddit to serve the Black community and curb racial hate, starting with a donation of $1 million to Know Your Rights Camp, led by civil rights activist and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
