Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon will launch on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems Nov. 17. To celebrate, Niantic added a set of new avatar items to Pokemon Go, inspired by the setting of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: the Alola Region.
Specifically, players now have access to free tropical items for both male and female avatars, which match those worn by the main characters in the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games. For instance, players can dress the game’s female avatar in a flowery shirt, white shorts, a tropical hat and more.
Players can wear every Alola-inspired item at the same time, or mix and match individual pieces with items they already have.
Pokemon Go is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The game has been downloaded more than 750 million times, and it’s driven more than 500 million visits to sponsored locations, such as Sprint stores, since its release in July 2016.
Recently, Niantic partnered with Wieden + Kennedy London to launch an advertising campaign for Pokemon Go. The campaign saw billboards containing gameplay stats appear in New York, London and Tokyo, and some of these billboards were activated as in-game PokeStops.
