Pinterest Poaches Google Sales Vet to Ramp Up Its Advertising Business

Jon Kaplan worked at search giant since 2004

Pinterest wants to build out its ad products to compete with digital heavyweights like Facebook and Google, so the site has hired Google's vp of U.S. sales, Jon Kaplan, to head up its global business.

Kaplan will be responsible for building relationships with agencies and brands. He replaces Joanne Bradford, who left the social network in June for the COO role at SoFi.

Kaplan starts the new job on March 7 and will work out of the company's San Francisco headquarters.
