Will Pinterest’s Visual Search Efforts Benefit From a Touch of Bing?

Microsoft's Lawrence Ripsher will assume the newly created role of head of Pinner products

Pinterest has a new head of Pinner products, by way of Microsoft: LOOP founder and former Bing product and design director Lawrence Ripsher.

In the newly created position, Ripsher will report to co-founder and chief product officer Evan Sharp and oversee all consumer products teams, including those responsible for visual discovery features Lens, Instant Ideas and Shop the Look.

The LOOP team at Microsoft was responsible for the Arrow launcher for Android devices. Ripsher also served as co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based mobile startup Kikker Interactive prior to its acquisition by Microsoft in 2008.

Sharp said in a statement emailed to Social Pro Daily:

As we build a visual discovery engine, we welcome Lawrence’s experience in scaling search and recommendations organizations.
