People StyleWatch, HauteLook Team on Web Sales Events

People StyleWatch is the latest fashion magazine to capitalize on the popularity of online sample sales. The Time Inc. title that recommends products to its readers has teamed up with HauteLook, a sample sale Web site, to promote items from HauteLook’s sales events.
StyleWatch, a breezy spinoff of People that shows readers how to knock off celebrities’ looks, has used readers’ response to products it promotes to persuade marketers to advertise in the magazine. In the case of the HauteLook program, the daily picks featured on are selected by its editors.
As part of the partnership, HauteLook and StyleWatch also will present co-branded sales that both brands will promote through newsletters, Facebook and Twitter. The sales will feature items that are selected by StyleWatch editors and that coincide with editorial features in the magazine. Shoppers will be directed to HauteLook to buy the items.
StyleWatch isn’t the first to seize on the growth of online shopping. Hachette Filipacchi Media’s Elle matched up with shopping site Rue La La; and Condé Nast’s Vogue struck a deal with couture e-commerce site Gilt Groupe that lets its members buy from the pages of the fashion bible.
