News came today that XM Satellite Radio has signed a three-year, $55 million deal with Oprah Winfrey to introduce a channel on the top U.S. subscription radio service.
Unsurprisingly, XM shares shot up 10 percent on the news.
This is our feeling: “Oprah” has been the No. 1 talk show for 20 consecutive yers and gets almost 50 million viewers weekly. For XM, this is the bargain of the century, especially given how much Sirius is banking on Howard Stern driving subscriptions.
