Former Cub Reporter Returns to Lead Newspaper as Editor

The Opelika-Auburn News welcomes back Troy Turner.

You can go home again.

Three decades after starting out at The Opelika-Auburn News as a cub reporter, Troy Turner has returned to serve as the Alabama newspaper’s editor. In between, there was a Johns Hopkins international fellowship, time spent on the Pulitzer judging committee, a 2009 Robert G. McGruder Award for Diversity Leadership and much more.

From the paper’s welcome note:

Turner’s work included early stints with the New York Times Co. at its affiliates in Gadsden and Florence, and later almost six years at The Anniston Star, where he served as executive editor.
