The Newsweek Daily Beast Co. is getting a new president. CEO Stephen Colvin picked Rob Gregory, a veteran of Maxim and Rolling Stone with whom he worked at Dennis Publishing, for the newly created position.

Gregory most recently was president of luxury local cable company Plum TV. His exit is bad timing for Plum; just last week, Jerry Powers resigned as CEO following pressure from the company board over an unpaid gambling debt.

The longtime publishing veteran previously was publisher of Dennis’ laddie mag Maxim; he left after its sale to private equity-backed owners.
