LinkedIn Gave Users a Preview of Upcoming Changes to Its Privacy Policy, User Agreement

Despite being acquired by Microsoft, LinkedIn operates under its own terms of service

LinkedIn announced that it is updating its privacy policy and user agreement June 7, and vice president of legal, intellectual property, product and privacy Sara Harrington provided a preview of the changes in a blog post.

Harrington said that despite its acquisition by Microsoft—which was announced last June and officially closed last December—LinkedIn operates under a separate terms of service.

She detailed the upcoming updates to LinkedIn’s privacy policy:

  • Increased visibility of your LinkedIn profile: Similar to the way your profile shows up in search engines, we will allow certain third-party services to show your profile to their users, so that you can be more easily found for opportunities and connect with people.
