Beanstalk is definitely a contending horse in this year’s running of the Kentucky Derby, right? Nope. It’s a global brand extension licensing agency in the Omnicom family. And have you heard of ad agency Mendelssohn, named after founder Erik Mendelssohn, who revolutionized Ikea’s advertising? Nah, you haven’t, because Mendelssohn is actually one of the top favorites in the Derby. (Erik Mendelssohn doesn’t exist—and he certainly hasn’t had a say in Ikea’s marketing strategy.)
