Jim Romenesko Resigns From Poynter

Media world rallies to support him

After being censured on his own blog for “a pattern of incomplete attribution,” media blogger Jim Romenesko has resigned from Poynter. He was slated to “semi-retire” in just seven weeks to start his own blog.

Yesterday, Romenesko’s editor Julie Moos published a post on Romenesko+ detailing the fact that many of Romenesko’s aggregated posts had lifted phrases directly from the source articles. (None of the original authors had ever complained about Romenesko’s writing.) Moos's criticism of Romensko caused outrage among his colleagues in the media sphere, where he is a well-respected figure.
