Facebook last month began rolling out its integration of Messenger from Facebook features into Instagram Direct, which gives users of the photo- and video-sharing application access to new features in conversations, such as selfie stickers and animated message effects.
Instagram users can choose to upgrade their messaging experience whenever they want, and our guide will show you how this is done.
Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram app on iOS.
Step 1: Tap the paper airplane icon in the top-right corner of the Instagram home screen.
Step 2: Tap “Update.”
Note: If you have previously tapped the paper airplane icon and tapped “Not Now” instead of “Update,” you can still update your Instagram Direct experience by going into the app’s Settings menu and tapping “Update Messaging.”
