Instagram Extends Test of TikTok Clone Feature Reels to France, Germany

Users will have dedicated spaces on their profiles and in the Explore tab

The Reels TikTok clone feature Instagram began testing in Brazil last November (where it was known as Cenas) was extended to France and Germany this week.

Reels enables people to create short-form videos with music or other audio, lasting up to 15 seconds, as well as to adjust the speed and time of each clip, just as TikTok users can do via that application’s video editor.

Developer and blogger Jane Manchun Wong uncovered earlier testing of the feature, originally known as Clips, last September.

When testing started on Reels in Brazil, users could only share them within Stories, but people who are part of the test group will now see dedicated spaces for Reels in their profiles and in the Explore tab, offering the potential of more exposure.
