Instagram Now Has More Than 1 Million Monthly Advertisers and 8 Million Business Profiles

The app's users will soon book services directly via business profiles

The popular visuals platform has hit another milestone. Instagram

Advertising on Instagram has exploded, with the Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing network reporting that it now tallies more than 1 million monthly advertisers, five times more than the 200,000 it had at the same time in 2016.

Instagram added in a blog post that some 8 million brands are now using its business profiles, primarily in the U.S., Brazil, Indonesia, Russia and the U.K.

Those business profiles will soon boast new functionality, as Instagram announced in its blog post that it will add the ability for users to book services directly from business profiles “later this year,” sharing a preview of the feature:

Instagram topped 600 million monthly active users last December, and those users have been busy, as it said in its blog post that in the past month, more than 120 million of them visited websites, got directions, called, emailed or sent direct messages to learn more about businesses.
