How has Facebook’s removal of its messaging functions from its flagship applications in favor of its stand-alone Messenger apps impacted usage of the latter?
According to GlobalWebIndex, and not surprisingly, Messenger usage is on the upswing, and it is now the world’s second-most-popular messaging app, behind WhatsApp.
GlobalWebIndex used the U.K. as an example, saying that Messenger usage rose from 27 percent at the end of 2013 to 40 percent in mid-2014, the time period represented in the infographic below.
