Facebook confirmed that it is testing a feature that allows Messenger users to import their contacts from Instagram.

A spokesperson for the social network told Social Pro Daily via email that the feature is opt-in, and people who are part of the test group can access it via the People tab in the Messenger application or in the sign-up flow for Messenger, but there is no way to do it through Instagram.

The only contacts that will be imported are Instagram accounts that mutually follow the user doing the importing.

Corporate synergy continues among the Facebook family of products, as the social network recently introduced the ability to post Instagram Stories to Facebook, as well as the option of launching the Instagram app directly via Facebook.
