The brands and organizations winners for the 12th Annual Shorty Awards were revealed Thursday morning.
Adweek took home the win in the Best Use of Artificial Intelligence category for its Super Bowl Bot, developed by creative and innovation editor David Griner and emerging tech reporter Patrick Kulp. @SuperBowlBot is a text-generating AI trained on nearly 3,000 descriptions of Super Bowl ads sourced from around the web, including Adweek’s Super Bowl Ad Trackers from recent years.
The Shorty Awards teamed up with creative agency We Are Social to create a fully digital multiplatform livestreamed awards ceremony, which will take place Sunday, May 3, at 7 p.m. ET.
The traditional in-person event was scuttled by the coronavirus pandemic.
The ceremony will be livestreamed on Periscope and YouTube, and it will feature influencers, musical performances, hashtag challenges, real-time commentary, a social good tie-in and the traditional short (140 characters or fewer) acceptance speeches.
The Shorty Awards said trophies will be mailed out to all winners before the live show, and winners will be invited to create and submit acceptance videos for potential inclusion during the event and sharing via social media.
Remote winner interviews will be pre-recorded, and some of the categories will be presented as part of the livestream.
The switch from an in-person event to a livestream didn’t cost The Shorty Awards any of its sponsors—in fact, it added Switcher Studio and vidIQ.
