Google News Adds a Fact-Check Tag to Searches

The selection of tags, such as opinion and highly cited, that appear in front of Google search results is expanding with the addition of a fact-check tag.

Google’s decision to add a fact-checking tag is based both on the popularity of its tagging system as well as the growth of fact-checking. “Over the last several years, fact checking has come into its own,” writes Google head of news Richard Gingras, citing Duke University Reporter’s Lab list of over 100 sites that now fact-check.
