Former 'NOTW' Managing Editor Arrested

Stuart Kuttner had just returned to U.K. from U.S.

Former News of the World managing editor Stuart Kuttner has been arrested in connection with allegations of phone hacking and bribing police officers to leak sensitive information.

Kuttner, who resigned from the tabloid in 2009, was in charge of its finances and was its “public face” and “most vocal public defender,” says the Guardian. Kuttner recently returned to the U.K. from the U.S., where he was undergoing treatment for serious health issues.

When he arrived for an appointment at a London police station for questioning Tuesday morning, Kuttner reportedly didn’t know that he was going to be taken into custody by officers from Operation Weeting, which is leading the hacking investigation, and Operation Elveden, the investigation into police bribes.
