103 million tweets generated 33.6 billion impressions

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games reached their end with Sunday night’s closing ceremony in PyeongChang, South Korea, and Twitter said 103 million tweets were sent about the Games, generating 33.6 billion impressions (views on and off Twitter).

Jay Bavishi, Twitter’s partner manager for the International Olympic Committee and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, shared some final Olympics data in a blog post.

The most-tweeted-about moments during the Games were:

  1. Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu wins the gold medal in the men’s singles figure skating competition, while teammate Shoma Uno takes home the silver.
