FedEx Will No Longer Fly for Amazon

The courier wants to focus on the broader ecommerce market

FedEx said it will not renew its FedEx Express contract with Amazon, instead focusing on serving the broader market.

In an email, a rep said the courier has built out a network with capacity to serve thousands of ecommerce players, including Target, Walgreens and Walmart. FedEx also noted significant demand in ecommerce, which is expected to grow from 50 million to 100 million packages a day in the U.S. by 2026.

“We are excited about the future of ecommerce and our role as a leader in it,” the rep said.

In a statement, Amazon said it respects FedEx’s decision and thanked the company for its role in serving Amazon customers over the years.
