Following in the footsteps of four other Federal Communications Commission chairmen, Julius Genachowski will join the Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program as senior fellow.

Genachowski will join Aspen "later this month," the nonprofit think tank said in a statement. The group said it is looking to Genachowski to help it with communications policy projects.

Past FCC chairman who have used the Aspen Institute as a stepping stone out of public service include Kevin Martin, Michael Powell, Bill Kennard, and Reed Hundt.

Genachowski announced he was leaving the FCC March 21, just two days after GOP commissioner Robert McDowell announced his exit.
