Facebook Adds Mobile Cloud App Platform Parse

Facebook has been acquiring plenty of talent to help the company grow on mobile. Earlier this week, Facebook acquired the team behind Spaceport, and Thursday, the social network purchased Parse, a cloud application platform for iOS, Android, JavaScript, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and OS X. This is an acquisition, not a talent hire, and financial terms were not disclosed.

Parse apps will not be affected, and will continue to run normally. Those utilizing Parse will not be forced to integrate with Facebook.

Facebook Director of Developer Products Doug Purdy announced the news in a blog post:

By making Parse a part of Facebook Platform, we want to enable developers to rapidly build apps that span mobile platforms and devices.
