Facebook Live Becomes More Accessible During the Covid-19 Crisis

The social network reported a 50% jump in viewers over the past month

There have been more than 8.5 billion Facebook Live broadcasts since the feature debuted in August 2015, and the coronavirus pandemic was a driving force behind a 50% jump in viewers during the past month.

Facebook cited examples of Facebook Live usage during the Covid-19 crisis, including virtual concerts, live zoo safaris, cooking demonstrations and Mass with Pope Francis.

The social network said, “We built Live to bring people together through video in real time, and we’re seeing that people need these connections now more than ever.
