Facebook announced that it will match up to $1 million in donations to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Florence.
The social network activated its Safety Check tool for Florence last Friday, enabling people to mark themselves safe and check on the wellbeing of family and friends.
Facebook was already close to its goal, saying that more than 30,000 people have contributed over $970,000 toward the match.
The social network said there have been more than 2,200 posts from people requesting help via its Community Help feature
And the fundraiser created by the American Red Cross had raised over $16,000 through five days.
