Facebook Is Cutting Off API Access for Apps That Failed to Meet Its Aug. 1 Deadline

The social network announced a more comprehensive review process in May

Facebook vice president of product partnerships Ime Archibong issued a reminder to developers with applications that use the social network’s platform APIs (application-programming interfaces): Today is Aug. 1.

Facebook announced in May that all apps using its platform APIs would need to undergo a more comprehensive review, with an Aug. 1 submission deadline.

Archibong said in a blog post that Facebook is cutting off API access for “hundreds of thousands of inactive apps” that did not meet the deadline.

He added, “We’d encourage apps that are still being used but have not been submitted for app review to do so now.
