Facebook Gives Users of Its iOS, Android Apps More Control Over Their Shortcut Bars

Badge notifications can be turned off

Facebook is rolling out a way for users of its flagship iOS and Android applications to customize the shortcuts in their navigation bars.

People will have the option of hiding shortcuts to features they don’t access often, such as video destination Facebook Watch, ecommerce hub Facebook Marketplace, recent addition Facebook Dating, groups, events, profile, friend requests, News, Today In and Gaming, as well as the red notification dots that appear with those shortcuts.

Long-pressing on the shortcut bar will bring up this functionality for users who have received they update, at which point they can remove shortcuts they no longer wish to see and turn off badge notifications for tabs.
