Will Facebook Users Soon Be Able to Comment with GIFs?

GIFs came to Facebook Messenger in 2015

Facebook users may soon see a bit more movement within threads of comments.

The social network confirmed to Josh Constine and Ryan Lawler of TechCrunch that it will begin testing a GIF button in comments next week, enabling users who are part of the test group to post GIF files from third-party sites such as Giphy and Tenor as comments.

Facebook issued the following statement to Constine and Lawler:

Everyone loves a good GIF, and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we’re about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments, and we’ll share more when we can, but for now, we repeat that this is just a test.

The social network added GIF support to its Facebook Messenger application (pictured above and on the homepage) in 2015.
