Last April, Facebook bought photo-sharing startup Divvyshot, brought in its engineering team and made founder Sam Odio the product manager for its Photos application. And now, Odio and company have a new feature out for Facebook’s in-house photos application: automated face-tagging.
It works similar to face-recognition features on cameras and other photo software. Photos of people will now start showing rectangular outlines around their faces, if they’re not tagged already, with a text box beneath each rectangle allowing you to enter their names.
