Facebook says it will scrub content related to unfounded conspiracy theory QAnon from its platform and sister company, Instagram, from all pages, groups and accounts representing QAnon, regardless of whether they share content related to potential violence.

Since beginning its effort to remove QAnon content this summer, more than 1,500 pages and groups representing QAnon and over 6,500 tied to more than 300 militarized social movements have been removed.

“While we’ve removed QAnon content that celebrates and supports violence, we’ve seen other QAnon content tied to different forms of real-world harm, including recent claims that the West Coast wildfires were started by certain groups, which diverted the attention of local officials from fighting the fires and protecting the public,” the social network said.
