Now There’s a Dedicated App for Viewing Facebook 360 Content via the Gear VR

More than 25 million 360 photos and more than 1 million 360 videos have been posted to Facebook

Facebook Wednesday announced the release of Facebook 360, a dedicated application that enables Gear VR users to view 360-degree photos and videos from the social network.

The app will provide access to 360 photos and 360 video from friends, pages, followed users and pages, users’ Saved lists and other content they may not have seen.

Product director Brent Ayrey and software engineer Christopher Wong said in a Newsroom post announcing the app’s launch that more than 25 million 360 photos and more than 1 million 360 videos have been posted to the social network, adding that Facebook 360 will launch with four feeds:

  • Explore: Discover some of the most interesting and popular 360 content on Facebook from media companies, organizations and individual creators.
