Egyptian Baby Girl Named 'Facebook' After Revolution

An Egyptian has decided to thank the social network's role in powering the revolution by naming his daughter Facebook.

Egypt’s Jamal Ibrahim has named his newborn daughter Facebook Jamal Ibrahim, a tribute to the central role the social network played in helping organize the demonstrations leading to Hosni Mubarak resigning from the presidency he’d held for 30 years.

TechCrunch obtained a translation from Egypt’s Al-Ahram, which is interestingly a government-owned news outlet, saying:

The girl’s family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook.
