Democratic National Convention Is Still Set for Summer

It's unclear how the RNC is proceeding

Officials with the Democratic National Convention are still planning to host the event this summer despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The convention, slated to take place July 13-16, is expected to draw around 50,o00 people to Milwaukee, Wis., and officials from the city’s mayor to the DNC’s chairman have said the spectacle will go on.

The convention’s committee will continue to “monitor this fluid situation” and is “focused on planning a safe and successful convention in Milwaukee four months from now,” DNC Committee CEO Joe Solmonese said in a statement.

“As we prepare these plans, we will remain in constant communication with the local, state and federal officials responsible for protecting public health and security—and will continue to follow their guidance as we move forward,” he said.
