Twitter will begin taking a closer look at how developers and their applications are using its user and mentions timeline API (application-programming interface) endpoints.
Starting June 19, user-auth and app-auth requests will be limited to a total of 100,000 per day, on a per-app and per-endpoint basis, meaning that a single developer app can make up to 100,000 calls to each of the two endpoints during any single 24-hour period.
Senior director of product management Rob Johnson and head of site integrity Yoel Roth wrote in a blog post, “Why 100,000 requests? Because this limit allows us to make concrete progress to combat inappropriate use of our developer platform, while isolating the impact to the developers using these endpoints the most.
