California Watch Wins IRE Award
California Watch and the Center for Investigative Reporting won the Gannett Award for Innovation in Watchdog Journalism.
The award “recognizes the use of digital innovation in the gathering and/or delivery of watchdog and investigative news to its audience.”
The investigative reporting group won for “On Shaky Ground,” a series on the systemic failures by the state of California in ensuring public schools are seismically safe.
The award was presented on Saturday at the Investigative Reporters and Editors conference awards luncheon in Boston.
