Watkins, who has been a national security correspondent at BuzzFeed, joins Politico in the same role. “Ali is one of Washington’s most talented young journalists on the beat and has delivered consistently impressive coverage of the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election,” write editor Carrie Budoff Brown and executive editor Paul Volpe in a note to staff.
