Bonnier Acquires Scuba Diving, Accompanying Site

In a generally dormant market for magazine sales, Bonnier Corp. continues to buy. Today, it announced its acquisition of Scuba Diving and its companion Web site from enthusiast publisher F+W Media Inc. for undisclosed terms.
Bonnier already owns Sport Diver, a 200,000-circulation lifestyle monthly that’s the official publication of PADI, a scuba diving training organization. Scuba Diving claims a monthly circ of 130,000 and focuses on gear evaluations and travel coverage.
Observers say that a debt-free balance sheet, family ownership and diversified media holdings have put Bonnier Corp., the U.S. division of Sweden-based Bonnier Group, in a good position to buy in a tight credit market.
Back in September, Bonnier bought Working Mother Media, publisher of 831,150-circulation Working Mother magazine, adding to its parenting titles Parenting and Baby Talk.
