BitTorrent Is Launching a News Channel

And it debuts on the first day of the Republican National Convention.

In May, file-sharing service BitTorrent introduced multi-channel video streaming app BitTorrent Live. In less than a week, the organization will be using the platform to launch BitTorrent News, its own livestreaming news site.

For the debut of BitTorrent News, the org has chosen July 18, a date that coincides with the start of what will be one of the most obsessively covered political events of this year: the Republican National Convention.

The org will cover the convention with what marketing vp Christian Averill describes in a post as an “informed, independent voice,” providing about half a day’s worth of live coverage each day of the convention.
