AOL Buys Virtual Reality Company Ryot Corp.

The deal was real, not virtual.

AOL is diving into the altered reality trend with the acquisition of Ryot Corp., an LA-based virtual reality company.

As part of the deal, Ryot will join The Huffington Post and provide virtual reality content for AOL’s branded content division, Partner Studio.

“The Huffington Post blazed the trail by empowering people to tell their own stories in their own voices,” said Ryot co-founder Bryn Mooser, in a statement. “Ryot is born out of that same mission. Together, we’ll bring our immersive virtual reality storytelling to their global news network and we couldn’t be more excited.”
