Another Arrest in News of the World Hacking Scandal

Police take senior reporter James Weatherup into custody

Police have made a third arrest in connection with the News of the World hacking scandal. James Weatherup, a senior reporter at the paper, was taken into custody in London on Thursday.

Weatherup had previously been a senior editor at the tabloid for about 18 months, beginning in 2004. The Guardian says that he was one of the “inner circle” of executives under then-editor Andy Coulson, which was made up of a “handful of senior employees who would take part in private discussions of major news stories with other senior members of the paper.”
