The American Customer Satisfaction Index’s Top Social Network Is … Google+?

Twitter posted the largest year-over-year percentage gain of any social network

You may not know many people who still use Google+, but that waning group is apparently quite satisfied with the social network.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index released its 2017 e-business report Tuesday, and Google+ sat atop the list of social networks with a score of 81 out of 100, up from 76 last year, with ACSI citing January’s site redesign and new features, as well as its integration with other Google products.

ACSI said overall customer satisfaction with e-business was down 0.8 percent from 2016, to 74.3, while social media overall held steady at 73.

Pinterest finished second among social networks, at 78, with ACSI crediting improvements in efficiency and the visual search features it introduced in February— Lens, Shop the Look and Instant Ideas. Pinterest scored 76 in 2016.

Third-place Wikipedia slipped to a 77 from a 78 in 2016, with ACSI referencing its decreasing number of editors.

In fourth place, Instagram—75, up from 74 last year—was propelled by the introduction of Instagram Stories last August.

YouTube came in fifth at 74, down from 77 last year.

Twitter posted the largest percentage gain of any social network, surging from 65 in 2016 to 70 and sixth place in 2017, on the back of its importance as a source of news.

Facebook remained unchanged at 69, while Tumblr jumped slightly to a 68 in 2017 from a 67 in 2016 and LinkedIn held steady at 65.

Finally, “all others” plunged from a 79 to a 73.

ACSI said overall social media earned the highest score for site performance, at a 77, but its ratings for ease of navigation, ease of use on different devices, freshness of content and privacy all dipped slightly when compared with its 2016 results.

The sector’s average satisfaction with video (74) and the amount of advertising they see on social networks (69) were both unchanged from last year.
