A Close Friends Sharing Option Was Added to Instagram Stories

Lists can only be seen by their creators, and people can’t request to be added

Instagram began rolling out a Close Friends feature for Instagram Stories, enabling people to share their Stories solely with their customized lists.

The feature is rolling out to iOS and Android users globally Friday, and people can compile their lists by going to their profile and tapping Close Friends on the side menu.

Instagram said only the creators of Close Friends lists can see those lists, and no one can request to be added.

If someone is on another user’s Close Friends list, they will see a green badge when viewing that person’s Stories, along with a green ring around their profile photo in the Stories tray.

Instagram director of product Robby Stein introduced the feature at TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin, and he said at the event, as reported by Josh Constine of TechCrunch, “As you add more and more people, you start not to know them.
