442,000 tweets related to the 2017 NBA Draft have been sent since last Friday

The 2017 National Basketball Association Draft is set for Thursday night, but the trade of the No. 1 pick and other rumors got Twitter going early.

Twitter said in an email to Social Pro Daily that 442,000 tweets related to the 2017 NBA Draft have been sent since last Friday, and the three top spikes in conversation were:

  1. Cleveland Cavaliers rumored to be pursuing Chicago Bulls small forward Jimmy Butler: 29,000 tweets Monday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
  2. New York Knicks rumored to be entertaining trade offers for power forward and center Kristaps Porzingis: 22,000 tweets Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon ET.
  3. Philadelphia 76ers trade with Boston Celtics for No. 1 overall selection: 18,000 tweets Monday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET.

Twitter also offered its “predictions” for Thursday night’s lottery picks, based on players most mentioned in tweets discussing a given team and the draft, and giving priority to teams with higher picks:
