F@¢K Yeah! HBO Renews Veep, Silicon Valley

Quick pick-ups for foul-mouthed Sunday comedies

HBO has picked up its merrily profane Beltway comedy, Veep, for a fourth season, while locking in the newbie Mike Judge strip, Silicon Valley, for a second run.

Created by Armando Iannucci, Veep stars Seinfeld alum Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer, the nation’s most unapologetically potty-mouthed vice president since Lyndon Baines Johnson. Louis-Dreyfus has won two Emmy Awards for her work on the show, which premiered on April 22, 2012.

The ensemble comedy also stars Anna Chlumsky, Tony Hale, Mike Walsh and Timothy Simons as the universally despised White House liaison to the vice president’s office, Jonah Ryan.

After ABC shot down a pilot based on his BBC satire, The Thick of It, Iannucci developed Veep as an HBO series in 2011.
