Bloomberg's Former Content Chief Joins Vice to Head Up Its Nightly Newscast

Josh Tyrangiel left about 2 weeks ago

Josh Tyrangiel has wasted little time finding his next stop in journalism. Bloomberg's chief content officer until earlier this month, Tyrangiel is joining Vice, where he'll oversee the brand's new nightly newscast for HBO.

"Vice has the most distinctive voice in news," Tyrangiel said in a statement. "I'm really honored to work with the team to bring Vice news to viewers every day. I can't think of a more interesting job in journalism."

The half-hour nightly newscast will draw from Vice's more than 30 bureaus around the world, taking on the network evening newscasts that have, over the years, cut back on foreign news coverage.

"Josh Tyrangiel has deep journalism experience, but he also has the confidence to rewrite the rules," said Vice co-founder and CEO Shane Smith.
