YouTube Gives Creators Another Way to Incorporate Long-Form Videos Into Shorts

They can take 60-second clips from existing content and convert them to the short-form option

Sports marketing leaders from State Farm, the Golden State Warriors, the NBA and more will join ADWEEK Brand Play on May 9 to unpack the trends, techniques and tools you need to break into the space. Register for your virtual pass.

An update from YouTube allows creators to take up to 60 seconds from their existing long-form videos and convert them into YouTube Shorts.

Creators will have access to editing tools including filters, text and the timeline editor, and YouTube Shorts created from existing long-form videos will link back to those videos so that viewers can consume the longer content, as well.

If a creator opts to take a slice of a video that is shorter than 60 seconds, they have the options of shooting addition video with the Shorts camera or uploading ore videos from their gallery.

YouTube said this new option is rolling out across Android and iOS.
