WhatsApp revealed at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event Wednesday that users will be able to move their entire chat history from the Facebook-owned messaging application between mobile operating systems.

Chat histories include conversations, photos and voice notes, and WhatsApp pointed out that since all conversations on its platform are end-to-end encrypted by default and stored on users’ devices, enabling people to migrate their chat history between platforms required a collaboration between device manufacturers, operating systems and WhatsApp to craft a way to do so in a secure and reliable way.
