Twitter is testing a way to let people download and use its iOS application without signing up for an account on the social network.

Product manager Laura Burkhauser explained in a tweet, “Not everyone is ready to sign up for an account the first time they try Twitter. Our team wants to give people an easy way to read tweets and experience having a timeline.”

She added in a follow-up tweet, “We are testing multiple variations, but the core idea is to allow an open world experience in the app so that people getting to know Twitter can follow accounts and get to a custom timeline—a different experience than logged-out web for sure.
