Twitter Test Lets Users Flag Tweets as, ‘It’s Misleading’

The social network cautioned that it won’t respond to or take action on all reports

Twitter kicked off a small test of a way for its users to potentially help it root out misinformation on its platform.

Starting this week, some users in Australia, South Korea and the U.S. will see the option to flag a tweet as “It’s misleading” after clicking on the menu to report a tweet.

This test is taking place on the main platform, unlike Birdwatch, the pilot program Twitter unveiled in the U.S. in January, in which users identify what they believe to be misleading information in tweets and write notes that provide informative context, which are only visible on the Birdwatch site.

Twitter said in a Twitter Safety tweet that it will not be able to respond to every report submitted via the test, and it may not take action on tweets reported in this fashion, explaining, “Your input will help us identify trends so that we can improve the speed and...
